Maprat Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Maprat ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our iOS application (the "App"). Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to being transparent about our practices.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We believe in minimizing data collection. The App is designed to function without collecting or storing your personal information. Specifically:

No User Accounts: The App does not have a sign-up or registration feature. You can use the App anonymously without creating an account.

No Personal Information: We do not collect, store, or have access to any personal information that can identify you, such as your name, email address, or phone number.

3. Information We Process for Core Functionality

To provide the core features of the App—tracking visited countries, rendering interactive 3D globes, and displaying custom map themes—all your travel data is handled locally:

Travel Log & Preferences: Your list of visited countries, bucket list destinations, and selected map color themes are saved 100% on-device using local iOS storage. They are never transmitted to or stored on external servers.

Location Data (Optional): If you grant the App permission to access your location, your geographic coordinates are used strictly on-device to center or highlight your current location on the map. This location data is never stored, tracked, or shared externally.

4. Third-Party AI Services

To let users import their past travels from a screenshot of a map or a list of countries, Maprat processes photographs or images that you explicitly choose to import. This is only done when you explicitly trigger an import action within the App.

Service Provider: We use Google's Firebase AI services (specifically, the Gemini model) to analyze the photograph and country list information you explicitly provide.

Data Handling: The data sent to Google (your photograph or image) is processed according to their privacy policy solely for the purpose of analyzing the image to extract your travel list. We do not store your photographs on our servers after analysis is complete.

Google's Privacy Policy: You can find more information here: https://policies.google.com/privacy

5. Data Security

Because all your travel logs remain stored locally on your iPhone, your data is protected by your device's built-in iOS security controls, passcodes, and biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID). You have full control over your data and can clear or reset your travel history within the App at any time.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted.
